Linnaeus 3D Modelling Workshop
1 Feb 2011, k-space

A 1-day 3D modelling and rendering workshop was arranged to teach roughly 20 participants the basics of 3D modelling and rendering, very important tools for illustrating research.

The workshop covered the basics of modelling using Rhinoceros 4.0 and setting up a scene, complete with textures and lighting in Moray as well as rendering said scene in the raytracer POVRay. During the first half of the day the two teachers, themselves members of the Linnaeus School, showed a few basic tutorials and after lunch the participants got to try what they had learned for themselves, with the teachers present to help out.
