Vortex formation in rotating dipolar Fermi gases

Abstract:
In this thesis the vortex formation in a gas cloud of cold fermions that
interact with the anisotropic dipolar interaction is examined using the
configuration interaction method. This system is found to exhibit vortices
by comparison with a similar system with Coulomb interaction. By tilting
the dipoles, the anisotropy of the interaction reveals the
non-rotationally symmetric features of the density without distorting the
ground state.
