Abstract:
A small quantum system of Coulomb interacting particles trapped in a two
dimensional harmonic oscillator potential is studied using exact diagonalization.
By increasing the particle-particle interaction strength a Wigner
Crystal is formed both in the case of trapped fermions and trapped bosons.
The boson and fermion systems become increasingly similar to each other and
also to a system of classical particles as the interaction strength increases. In
the case of a rotating system we find meta-stable states forming at certain
interaction strengths.
