I work on the elasticity of nanoscale objects, NEMS, and their applications. This is done in collaboration with the Nanometer Structure Consortium. Another area of interest is semiclassical methods applied to elastodynamics. For statements about spectral densities, the focus is on closed and not open rays, in contrast to say seismology. Lately, I turned towards scattering problems and their applications for sound propagation in elastic structures. Together with ideas from semiclassics, wave function statistics and ray tracing, one finds improved statistical predictions for noise fields. Preprints |
